There is a national mandate in the healthcare industry for improvement, beginning with a shift from paper-based medical records to comprehensive electronic medical records. The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) contains provisions for health information technology aimed at lowering costs and cutting waste, while improving the quality of care and patient safety. ARRA also provides financial incentives for all providers to implement and use Electronic Medical Records (EMR), with a goal of EMR for all Americans by 2014. Providers are looking for solutions that will increase their ability to deliver better quality care, reduce medical errors and lower costs.
